History of the Organization:
Throughout our history, we have learned to manage change, hold staff accountable, build strong leaders, develop effective procedures, implement process improvements and provide data analysis and reporting.
Established in August 1984 as the Rural Coastal Bend Private Industry Council, a non-profit, private corporation that merged with the Private Industry Council in Nueces County, the entity known as Texas Workforce Centers of the Coastal Bend Region (TWCCBR), served Nueces (Corpus Christi, Texas) and the 11 surrounding counties. In response to changes outlined in the Workforce Investment Act, we opened the first certified workforce center in the state of Texas.
In July 1998, TWCCBR competed for and was awarded the contract to manage and operate the region's workforce centers for the Coastal Bend Workforce Development Board. On July 1, 1999, TWCCBR filed an Assumed Name Certificate with the State of Texas to operate as Workforce Network, Incorporated.
Workforce Network was again awarded the contract in 2001 to manage all workforce programs, including business services and child care management, and to operate the workforce centers in all 12 counties of the Coastal Bend Workforce Development Area. Additionally, we were awarded the contract to manage and operate the workforce centers in the Lower Rio Grande Valley in 2001, a contested contract that was returned to the previous contractor the following program year. From 2004-2007, Workforce Network was awarded the Coastal Bend contract to manage all adult workforce programs and to operate the region's workforce centers.
In 2007, Workforce Network was awarded the contracts to manage and operate the workforce centers for Tarrant County (Fort Worth/Arlington) and North Texas (Wichita Falls and the surrounding area). In 2010, we were selected as the contractor for North Central Texas workforce center and child care operations.
