Our On-the-Job Training (OJT) program is designed to provide a training opportunity for a participant enrolled in programs through Workforce Network who might not otherwise be offered employment due to lack of experience in a specific field.

We offer employers a reimbursement (up to 50 percent of wages) for the extraordinary costs associated with training a participant while that person is "on the job" and learning the skills identified by the employer as necessary to retain employment. The specific training is documented in a customized instruction plan agreed upon by the employer, the employee, and our staff. The OJT occurs while the employee is engaged in productive work, allowing the new employee to gain the knowledge and expertise identified by the employer.

The positive impact to the employer's bottom line is gaining a custom-trained employee to join the company's team while saving dollars associated with the time it takes to train the new employee!

Employers who participate in this program help our local economy by reducing the level of unemployment and, more importantly, they help change the lives of many who have much to offer in exchange for a training commitment.

The OJT program is available to employers in the private or public sector. Workforce Network refers qualified individuals to employers interested in the OJT program. The individual must be hired by the employer following the development of a training agreement.

To participate in the OJT program, an employer must have:

• current workers' compensation insurance policy
• federal I.D. number
• training site and personnel to provide the supervised training
• full-time position with starting wages equivalent to current industry standards
• signed training contract with the Workforce Network, Inc. prior to hiring of the participant.

Any occupation requested by an employer may be considered "in demand" if an On-the-Job Training Position can be developed.
